I cannot believe it’s almost the end of July already and we only have one more month left until school starts again! Just in time to start thinking about back to school outfits and lunch boxes, throughout the rest of the summer (until August 31), Stage is partnering up with the No Kid Hungry organization to help raise money and awareness for childhood hunger. It’s really stunning that thirteen million kids in the U.S struggle with hunger, and over half of public schools students are from low-income families, making it hard to afford school lunches, and even to buy the groceries to make lunches. As shoppers go to Stage stores and explore the back to school items and fashions they have the chance to help these children and families by purchasing from these select items and fifty percent of sales are donated back to the No Kid Hungry Organization! You can shop in stores or online to help with the sales for the organization and just shop all your back to school needs here! About 22 million families rely on free or reduced priced lunches throughout the U.S. We are so fortunate to have the abundance of food that we do and I feel so grateful for this. I’ve started having Finley help me make his lunches for school and we always talk about how we could share our food with other kids in his class if they don’t have enough in their lunches. Make it an open conversation with your kids. Living here in Houston we have a lot of families in need and I feel like Finley is at the age to really start understanding that, so we’ve even been cleaning out our toys and picking toys to donate to families that have less than we do. Make it a family effort! It’s amazing to see the kindness that is just a natural thing in your children’s hearts, and how we need to lead by example!
