5 tips for busy moms

tips for busy momsI get asked a lot how I do everything that I do every day, but I know we’re all so busy, not just me, and I’m always learning from other moms. I wanted to write up just a few tips that have helped me, and hopefully they will help you too!  I have help only once a week with my baby Foster, and Finley is in school part time. I also work from home and exercise 5-6/ week. My schedule is key and I’m pretty crazy about it, but it is my lifeline! I’m always learning from other moms like Destiny and Becky but here are a few of my tips that makes me super productive throughout my week!

1 ) Schedule Schedule Schedule

Everything! Schedule everything, with times in your phone or on a calendar, or both, like I do. Write everything you have to do each day and stick to it. Even if it’s: “call pedi and schedule appts for kids” or “run to TJ’s for bananas”. Check it off as it’s done, this feels SO good. I like to plan my whole calendar out on Sundays with my husband.

2 ) Don’t wash your hair everyday.

Learn how to go days without washing your hair, with these tips here. I only wash my hair once a week and I work out often, and sweat a lot. I think I’ve mastered how to go a long time between washes! Saves so much time in the mornings! If you have longer hair, you can do such cute buns and braids now!

3 ) 5 minute makeup, or the no-makeup look.

I got very fast with my makeup, watch my 5 minute everyday makeup video here. On gym days, or days at home with the babes I only wear tinted sunscreen, or this blurring primer. If you take good care of yourself and your skin you can go without makeup. Don’t workout in makeup ladies! That’s so horrible! I take my makeup off before or go makeup-less to begin with.

4) Let go of the small things

This is still a challenge for me each day. When the kids nap I would run around like a crazy person trying to clean everything instead of relaxing or doing what I needed to and this caused me so much stress. Let. It. Go like Elsa. Clean at the end of the day when the kids go to bed for the night instead of all day.

5 ) Meal prep

This is KEY for me! I don’t enjoy cooking,  and I don’t want to have to think about what I’m cooking or anything. I also want to eat healthy. So, I spend about an hour on Sunday meal prepping, and that will take us until about Wednesday with lunches and dinners. You can follow my Pinterest board to see what I cook, but it’s very simple, very healthy, lots of lean protein on top of Dole salad kits and frozen brown rice that I get from Trader Joes. On Wednesdays I’ll cook salmon, which is super easy, because I can just throw it in the oven for 20 minutes and steam some veggies as sides. So I know what you’re saying: “what do you feed your kids, my kids would never eat salmon and veggies”. Well, mine do. I don’t have much to say except keep showing them what you eat. My kids actually eat my salads right out of my bowls. It’s crazy! With that being said, I can always add a side easily if they don’t like what I’m having: pasta, mac and cheese, a different veggie (my kids don’t eat sweet potatoes but love broccoli), butternut squash fries (TJ’s).

I hope this helps some of you! At the end of the day, just remember: the days are long but the years go fast. XOtips for stay at home moms
